01.11.2017 Kalamos

The cat slept on a cushion in the cockpit. We have breakfast all three, pussy and us and we then go for a walk (not the cat) at 10 am. A pretty shady road follows the coast and goes to another village, Episcopi, 8 km from here. We don’t think we're going that far, it's a bit long. We walk, walk, stop to “refuel”, but Jens didn’t take a lot of nuts, we  rationed ourselves to 2 almonds, 2 prunes and 2 dried apricots at each stop. We see opposite, on the other side of the fjord the town of Mitika, in the sun. And we come to Episcopi, a tiny port and half-empty village. The pictures are a little bit misty (or better said smoky) because somebody was burning branches near the harbor. We sit on a bench and notice the beautiful streetlights. A lady is fishing and catches one of those long, thin fish with a long nose, it looks like a miniature swordfish. We start the return by the same road. I walk a little like an automaton and don’t even look if there are flowers on the side of the road, but Jens has a good eye, he sees a white crocus, the only one in the whole walk. A little after the wooden chalet, a road goes down to the sea. I don’t want to make a detour, it's long enough like that, but a bath is tempting. We go down and have a nice beach to ourselves. It is true that the bath gives us strength and we take the road again with enthusiasm (well almost). We arrive at the boat at 3:30 pm after walking 17.6 km! And we are not too tired or hungry. The late lunch seems good anyway and the rest after well deserved. Blog then dinner of, I admit, the doggy bag of yesterday, a little improved. After dinner, we invite our Swedish neighbors to come for a coffee. They are retired but were professional seafarers, he as captain and she as a cook on large private yachts. They have traveled a lot and in all weathers, it’s interesting to hear them tell their travels.
