15.10.2017 Preveza

Dimanche 15 octobre 2017

We take breakfast at the hotel and come to the boat at 9:30 am. Jens and Roald have more to talk about and not to bother the rest of the family in their final preparations, I go for a walk. I'll see the marina at the end of the harbor. It is half empty, the yachts prefer to go to the quay in town, it is closer to the center and it is more alive. At 11 am, Roald and his family left by to taxis. Again thank you to them for this very nice "passage of power". We are alone with Hera II. She is a Hallberg Rassy 35 feet, built in Sweden in 1989. Already to climb on her, I have problems, it is necessary to walk on a board that is narrower than a footbridge and there is nothing to hold on. The first time Jens helps me then I have to do it by myself. I must tell you that I have little enthusiasm for this trip. We sailed 30 years on Maja and I like only her, I feel safe on her and I don’t want to try another boat. But I have to be lucky for a trip to Greece in October on a sailboat. Jens searches everywhere, checks up a lot of things, makes a list of tools and things to buy. He wants to understand how everything works. For example, Roald told him that the solar panel does not work. Jens checks it and realizes that a fuse is missing. He repairs it, and voilà. I go shopping while he inspects and tinkers, but almost everything is closed, it's Sunday. I find, quite far, a mini market and buys eggs, fruit etc ... and have even more trouble to find bread, but I manage it at least. All this walking, we miss our bikes. We have lunch outside, it's hot. Jens tinkers a bit again then we go to the beach, at the end of the pier, nice beach with shower and a cabin to change. Few people, mostly old Greek ladies who stay in the water for a long time chatting. We do not have a thermometer but estimate the water at 20-21 ⁰, it's nice. We return and our English neighbor who is going to put his boat on land tomorrow gives us vegetables, tomatoes, avocados, lemons, onions and potatoes, nice and well appreciated. I do the blog and Jens makes the dinner, a good salad of tomatoes and avocados ("tomatoes and lawers" as Google translation translated once). We dine out, it's still mild. I then send many emails to tell family and friends about this new blog, a little reading and in bed. We sleep in front and, lying down, it’s almost like being  on Maja, the same layout of the bunks, the window and the shelves along the berths. That’s good.
