Hera II: 13/14.10.2017 Bergen-Preveza (Grèce/ Greece)

D’abord, il faut que je vous explique la raison d’être de ce blog: nous avons acheté la dizième partie d’un bateau ”Hera II ” qui se trouve à Preveza en Mer Ionienne, à l’est d’Athène. Les autres neuf propriétaires sont tous norvégiens et cette copropriété a fonctionné depuis 1989. Nous sommes donc partis vendredi matin, à l’aube (merci Catherine de nous avoir conduits à l’aéroport), avons changé d’avion à Amsterdam et sommes arrivé à Athène dans l’après-midi. Nous prenons ensuite un bus pour la station de bus, achetons nos billets pour Preveza pour demain et, en taxi, allons à l’hôtel Epidavros. Il fait beau et chaud. Court repos et promenade dans le quartier.Je m’aperçois, en rentrant à l’hôtel que j’ai oublié ma chemise de nuit ! Par chance, la rue de l’hôtel est spécialisée dans les vêtements, plusieurs petites boutiques tenues par des Indiens ou des gens de Shri Lanka vendent des habits peu chers et je n’ai aucun mal à trouver une chemise de nuit pour 10 €. Elle fait “mémère” mais tant pis. Nous dinons d’une salade grecque et d’un bon plat de poisson et nous nous couchons à 22 h.

Le samedi matin, nous allons à pied, guidés par le GPS de la tablette de Jens, à la station de bus. Cela nous prend une heure, nous ne marchons pas vite, il fait chaud et nous sommes chargés. Le bus part d’Athène à l’heure, à midi. Nous passons le Canal de Corinthe sur un pont, mais cela prend 2 minutes et la photo prise en urgence n’est pas la meilleure du monde. Puis nous suivons le Golf de Corinthe par le sud, nous sommes sur le Péloponnèse et passons le grand pont sous lequel nous étions passés en juin 2015 du sud au nord. Nous arrivons à Preveza à 17 h, trouvons l’hôtel “The Captain’s House”, posons nos affaires et allons, enfin, faire connaissance avec Hera II. L’hôtel est à 5 mn du port. Nous sommes aussi heureux de faire connaissance avec Roald et Anne Britt, le couple de Bergen qui a navigué deux semaines avec le bateau. Ils ont avec eux leur fille, leur gendre et un petit fils de huit mois, bébé très souriant. Jens a plein de questions techniques pour Roald qui y répond avec compétence et patience. Anne Britt me montre sur une carte où ils sont allés. Nous les laissons ranger et préparer leurs bagages mais nous retrouvons à 19 h pour aller diner tous ensemble. Roald et Jens ont tellement de choses à se dire que nous allons diner à 20 h 30. Très bon diner, nous sommes d’accord pour prendre pleins d’entrées et de tout partager. C’est bon, variés et peu cher. Le bébé goûte de tout et est particulièrement intéressé par des anneaux de poulpe. Le jeune couple rentre un peu plus tôt que nous et nous finissons le repas par un café grec et un petit verre (offert par la maison) de Metaxa. Nous avons l’impression d’avoir connu Roald et Anne Britt depuis longtemps et discutons comme de vieux amis.

First, I have to explain the reason for this blog: we bought the tenth part of a boat "Hera II" which is in Preveza in the Ionian Sea, east of Athens. The other nine owners are all Norwegians and this joined ownership has been running since 1989. So we left Friday morning at dawn (thank you Catherine for taking us to the airport), changed plane in Amsterdam and arrived at Athens in the afternoon. We then take a bus to the bus station, buy our tickets for Preveza for tomorrow and, by taxi, go to the hotel Epidavros. It's nice and warm. Short rest and walk in the neighborhood. I see, on my return to the hotel that I forgot my nightgown! Luckily, the street of the hotel is specialized in clothing, several small shops run by Indians or people from Shri Lanka sell cheap clothes and I have no trouble finding a nightgown for 10 €. It’s not so fancy, but it’s OK. We dine with a Greek salad and a good fish dish and we go to bed at 10 pm.

On Saturday morning, we walk, guided by the GPS on Jens’ tablet, to the bus station. It takes us one hour, we don’t walk fast, it’s hot and we carry our backpaks. The bus departs from Athens on time at noon. We pass the Corinth Canal on a bridge, but it takes 2 minutes and the picture taken urgently is not the best in the world. Then we follow the Golf of Corinth from the south, we are on the Peloponnese and pass the great bridge under which we passed in June 2015 from south to north. We arrive at Preveza at 5 pm, find the hotel "The Captain's House", leave our things and finally get to know Hera II. The hotel is 5 minutss from the port. We are also happy to meet Roald and Anne Britt, the Bergen couple who sailed two weeks with the boat. They have with them their daughter, their son-in-law and a grandchild of eight months, a very happy baby. Jens has lots of technical questions for Roald who answers with knowledge and patience. Anne Britt shows me on a map where they went. We leave them to tidy up the boat and pack their luggage but we meet again at 7 pm to dine together. Roald and Jens have so much to say to each other that we are going to dine at 8:30 pm. Very good dinner, we agree to take in lots of appetisers and share everything. Good, varied and inexpensive. The baby tastes everything and is particularly interested in octopus rings. The young couple leave a little earlier than us and we finish the meal with a Greek coffee and a small glass (offered by the house) of Metaxa. We feel like we've known Roald and Anne Britt for a long time and talk like old friends.
